Refunds must be requested. Many applicants will hear a response in as little as two weeks while others may wait more than 40 days to receive a response. The Minister has announced changes to the Working Holiday Maker WHM program to assist with Australias COVID-19 economic recovery.

You cannot get a refund if you change your mind about your application. From 8 May 2021 WHMs working in the tourism and hospitality sectors anywhere in Australia may now work for up to 12 months with the same employer or organisation without requesting permission. There are currently 217 million people living in Australia. Supermarkets in States and Territories subject to COVID-19 lockdowns will be able to employ student visa holders in excess of the 40 hours per fortnight cap that normally applies.
